Johnson County is located in central Indiana immediately south of Indianapolis on I-65 and is the one of the fastest growing counties in the state thanks in part to its proximity in Indianapolis. But don't think of Johnson County as just a bedroom community, the county is experiencing not only residential growth but also new business development.

The County offers an exceptional quality of life and boasts an average household income of $52,693 - and with an average sales price in 2006 of $153,191 (report by Landrigan & Company, Indianapolis), homeownership rates are extremely high.

Location: Johnson County is in the central part of Indiana.  The county is rectangular and extends 20 miles from north to south and 16 miles from east to west.
 

Population: 115,209 (2000 Census);  128,436 (2005 est)
 

Cities & Towns: Franklin (12,907) is the county seat and home of Franklin College. Other cities in Johnson County include Greenwood (26,265), Whiteland (2,446), and Bargersville (1,681). Johnson County's location just south of Indianapolis has made it a focus of suburban development; as a result, the county is one of the fastest growing in the state. Prior to European settlement, vegetation in the county was mainly deciduous forests.
